Anyone may nominate

Nominee should:

  • contribute to the betterment of society
  • be a resident of the USA (citizenship is not required)
  • be living, able to travel and speak

 

Considerable biographical information be developed. For consistency among nominations, all must be submitted on the specified form.

You may complete the form during several visits so that you will be able to spend the amount of time necessary to prepare the best possible nomination for our candidate engineer.



Nomination Guidelines

The Washington Award is one of the nation’s premier engineering awards.  It was founded in 1916 by the Western Society of Engineers.  The award annually recognizes an engineer whose accomplishments have pre-eminently promoted the happiness, comfort and well-being of humanity.  Awards are made only to living engineers.

Nominations are reviewed by the Washington Award Commission, a panel of engineers representing the Western Society of Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers and the American Nuclear Society.   

Please note that this form must be completed for consideration of your nominee.  Space for each entry will expand as necessary.  All nominations submitted must be filled out completely using the following format.
