MAKE A NOMINATION

The award commission solicits the submission of eligible candidates from engineers and, indeed, persons from all walks of life. If you know of an engineer whom you believe to be a worthy and eligible candidate for the award, please review the Rules of the Award and complete the nomination form, below.

All nominations must be submitted electronically and using the form provided. Be thorough, complete, and accurate. The spaces in which you enter data will expand as necessary, to the character limit indicated. If you need to leave the form uncompleted, for any reason, you may do so and return to complete the form. Your work-in-process will be retained for 60 days.

All nominations will be reviewed and, if incomplete, you will be contacted and asked to provide missing information. Nominations of ineligible persons, in the judgement of the commission, will be discarded.

Nomination Guidelines

The Washington Award is one of the nation’s premier engineering awards.  It was founded in 1916 by the Western Society of Engineers.  The award annually recognizes an engineer whose accomplishments have pre-eminently promoted the happiness, comfort and well-being of humanity.  Awards are made only to living engineers.

Nominations are reviewed by the Washington Award Commission, a panel of engineers representing the Western Society of Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers and the American Nuclear Society.

Please note that this form must be completed for consideration of your nominee.  Space for each entry will expand as necessary.  All nominations submitted must be filled out completely using the following format.

Must contain sufficient information to permit delivery by USPS and/or courier.
